Wednesday 17th February Ash Wednesday

Baptism (John 1:19-34)

I saw him coming

And, with the gentlest revealing

Of the Spirit,

Sensed not my cousin

But one far greater:

And, just for a moment,

All the peculiarity

Of my calling

Fell into place

In the enormity

Of God’s plan.

But I wonder

What will become of me

Now he is here?
