The blind man at Bethesda (Mark 8:22-26)
I have been led by others
Since the darkness fell.
Sometimes
The touch was gentle,
Taking me from danger
To a place of safety.
At other times
Rough hands
Wrenched me aside
When I was in the way
Of the more able or important.
But this was different.
And, as the village sounds receded
I knew that I was safer
Than I had ever been.
And, as I saw his face,
It was so much more
Than my sight
Which was restored.
